We have now completed Module 2Measurement Unit. This unit focused on metric measurement, especially centimeters. Later in the spring we will learn standard measurement. I have a new website from the Oakdale Unified School District, which has videos explaining the lessons from Engage NY Math. I hope you find this helpful.

Students expand their skill with, and understanding of units by bundling ones, tens, and hundreds up to a thousand with straws. In this module, instruction includes a great deal of counting: by ones, tens, and hundreds. The goal is for students to move back and forth easily between the number line and the place value chart, using either to rename units and compare numbers. Learning that 12 tens = 120 leads to an understanding in later grades of 12 tenths = 1.2, 4 thirds = 4/3 = 1 1/3, or even 4 threes = 12.
Standards for Module 3
